The Clean Energy Programme by Carillion Energy Services is being delivered in Norfolk in partnership with Cotman Housing Association.

Resident Colleen Delsaint has just had a solar PV system installed through the scheme.

She told the North Norfolk MP that as well as providing her with clean and renewable energy, she was looking forward to significant savings on fuel bills. She added: “Because I can now get free electricity when it’s sunny I am looking forward to lower energy bills, which is a huge help. I wasn’t sure how the system would work but the installers explained everything and it is very easy. They were also very quick, very efficient and very friendly. The work took less than a day to complete.

Carillion Energy Services Clean Energy Programme utilizes the feed-in-tariff (FIT) to fit solar PV panels for social housing residents. There is no cost to householder or the landlord for the panels – and the renewable electricity generated is free.

Residents with the panels are typically seeing savings up of up to a third or more on their energy bills.

Mr Lamb said: “Being able to tap into free electricity through this scheme is a terrific boost for people looking to manage rising energy costs, and I applaud Carillion Energy Services and Cotman Housing Association for making low carbon living so accessible and affordable.”

Carillion Energy Services has now completed around 1,200 installs through the Clean Energy Programme and is working in partnership with seven social housing providers, and in advanced negotiations with a number of others.

It has also just announced a ground-breaking £300 million finance agreement with private equity partners to fund free installs for a further 35,000 social housing properties.

The business model works by providing Carillion Energy Services and its investment partners with a 25-year income through the FIT.
